Everyone on the Studer Education team is looking forward to this year’s What’s Right in Education event (#WRIE) as it provides us an opportunity to showcase our partners as they share “what’s right” and “what’s working” in their school districts. Here’s an early glimpse of the kind of relationships developed between participants and subsequent learning opportunities that evolve via School District of Janesville superintendent, Dr. Karen Schulte:
[This is the] front page article from this morning’s Gazette on Voice and Choice: Taking on Personalized Learning. This is the group from Lincoln Elementary School that was able to go to Charleston to study what they are doing in this area, come back and begin making it their own… We sent 7 teachers and two principals to learn more about this method and watch it in action. Shawn Galvin is the principal leading the charge… [Y]et another opportunity to make our schools great!
The article’s title reads, “Lincoln Elementary all-in on personalized learning” and shares that in year 1 personalized learning “focuses the classroom around the students, rather than teacher instruction.” A focus on student ownership of their learning, which Principal Galvin says, “equals more buy-in and more engagement with kids.” Read the complete article.
