Best-Place-To-Work Standards of Practice:
The goal in creating standards is to get faculty and staff input on defining the way people engage in the workplace environment so that it becomes a pleasant, satisfying, and productive place to work.
We recommend that organizations assemble a team to develop an initial draft standards document. They use the standards to align to the outcomes the school district wants to achieve. Sometimes looking at items on the surveys can be helpful to teams as they draft the standards. We’ve also found that applying a brainstorming activity with the team by asking them to describe “model” behaviors in the work environment works well.
By involving staff, we are not only establishing consistent standards, but we’re also creating buy-in from the school district. Employees are invested in the standards they are asked to model.
